VARIOUS WORKS
Overview:
Through the years I have had the opportunity to put pen/pencil/crayon, etc.to paper for various clients and just for personal satisfaction. Cartoons especially are my passion. The following pieces are examples of my portraits, Christmas cards and assorted drawings I've done.

18" x12" watercolor and airbrush

T-shirt design for an ill-fated canoe drip in the Florida Everglades.

Charcoal portrait

Pen and ink portrait from Good Morning Vietnam

GAG CARTOONS
Various Publications
Various publication dates

Overview:
Over time my cartooning style evolved to the point where I could sell my work to many of the day's top Trade and Entertainment publications such as The Saturday Evening Post, King Features Syndicate and the National Enquirer to name a very few.
Although MANY of the tear sheets are long gone, I still had the original cartoons in their "submitted" state (either a grey tone was added or deleted or color added, at the request of the Cartoon Editor.) and the captions were typeset beneath.

SUNDAY PROMOTIONAL COMICS
Various Sunday Comic Strips
Dates Vary

The Challenge:
The challenge was to create a fun way to attract delivery people other than the standard house ads. The thought behind this angle was that EVERYONE reads the funnies!.
The Execution:
Illustrated with pen and ink and and digitally colored
The Rewards:
Personally, I got to see some of my work appear in the Sunday comic section. For the newspapers, they were able to attract drivers and delivery people and reached their target audience.

BOOK ILLUSTRATION
"Cheap Advice”
Warner Books, 1996

The Challenge:
Create a cartoon character based on the subject to be used in a variety of cartoon situations for the publication.
The Execution:
Illustrated with pen and ink and various washes and colors for over 30 illustrations.
The Rewards:
The end result sold fairly well and the illustrations complimented the accompanying editorial nicely.

WHERE'S THE WOW?
44 page hard cover
motivational sales book
Client: Lennar Homes/
The Ad Team, Miami Florida

The Challenge:
Commissioned by a south Florida Advertising agency to create illustrations mimicking Dr. Seuss
for a 44 page book for their client's yearly
Sales Convention.
The Execution:
I was given the text and freedom to draw whatever I wanted. A very rare assignment.
The Rewards:
The "book" was a huge success and helped cement the agency's relationship with one of their biggest clients.

Book cover for Dr. Seuss satire.
ME AND TOMMYS' MENU
11' x17" 1-color design

The Challenge:
The client was opening a new bar and restaurant and wanted the menu completely hand-lettered and cartoons scattered throughout in an 11'x17" format. They wanted the menus to be memorable and even encouraged patrons to take them home.
The Execution:
I just lettered and lettered and lettered.
The Rewards:
Being the sole cartoonist, when changes were needed, I naturally had the gig. The menu was a huge success and was reprinted in batches of 500 several times.

The logo was even etched into a 6-foot tall window!
MEDICAL ECONOMICS CARTOONS
Published January 1996
As a freelance cartoonist, I often had the good fortune of having my work appear in Medical Economics, a monthly trade magazine.
I was flattered and pleasantly surprised when I received a call from the Cartoon Editor asking me if I would like to be featured in FUNNY BONES, a bi-monthly showcase of regular cartoonists.

Two-page spread as featured cartoonist. Appeared in Medical Economics trade magazine.
EDITORIAL CARTOONS/SPOT ILLUSTRATIONS
"The Crossroads Chronicle”
"The Hartford Advocate"
Weekly Newspapers

The Challenge:
For the Chronicle, the editor and I review the week’s top stories. With a very mature and conservative readership I had to tread very lightly. However, with the Advocate, I had free reign. Sometimes the more outlandish, the better.
The Execution:
Pen, ink and an understanding of the topics well enough to break it down to a simple drawing.
The Rewards:
The end result sold fairly well and the illustrations complimented the accompanying editorial nicely.
